I think I have a box of those cables... I programmed every 850 in the company I used to work for and probably have one new in the box around here somewhere.

I suffered with connection problems and narrowed it down to a bad stereo jack in the remote. You might try spraying some electronic cleaner in the socket and on the plug.
I just ordered some new sockets online and will try to do the repair when they arrive here.

Mike, I know this thread is old but I’m getting some fail 1 messages on some of my remotes as well. Did the replacing the jack work?
I’m not able to read the firmware info under help about with the remote plugged in and receive a fail 1 on the remote itself when trying to download upload or read data. Other remotes work with same cable
