Hey everyone,

I'm a long, long time lurker here, but this is my first post. I'm a DIY end user that's been with URC for a while (sadly, my dealer is no longer a URC dealer :( ) but I stocked up before the end anyway. I started with MX980, currently have MX1200, some KP900, receiver unit, etc. The poor MX980 was retired some time ago, though i still have it. ActiveSync drove me crazy, and I just plain love the 1200.

I bought a new Win 8.1 laptop a little while ago and just got around to trying to set it up for some program updates, went to learn a few IR commands and realized I never set up the remote on this laptop before. I plug it in, windows does it's "Unknown USB HID Device" thing in device manager, but isn't really connecting with the remote (the remote doesn't beep, and CCP can't see it.)

I have it communicating with 3 other computers, two windows 8.0, one win7. But I can't remember, and can't find the thread here that I once looked up, how to actually install the right driver for it. I don't have MDC installed, I don't think I need it for the 1200 or KP900 as both or plain USB, but maybe I do in fact need it?

I do remember doing some gyrations of installing the driver on the previous win8 box, but for some reason I can't remember what I did. I thought it was "Update Driver" in Device Manager and pointing to the Win7/Vista-x64 directory in the CCP install dir. But for now Windows is telling me those are not x64 compatible drivers. I tried the ones in the 32 bit directory as well with the same results. The problem is certainly me (it's working fine on my other machines, I just can't remember how I set them up), but I'd like to migrate everything to the new machine as soon as I can.

So for anyone who has it in their recent memory - when you get a brand new clean Win8 machine, install CCP, and plug an MX1200 or KP900 (or other USB sync model) what steps do you follow to make it work?

Nevermind on that front I got it working by plugging it into the USB2.0 port on the other side of the machine I didn't know I had. The pair of USB3.0 ports seems to not react well with the remote. If I plug it into the 3.0, Windows detects a HID device, but the remote never beeps and establishes a connection. On the USB 2.0 port it does.

Anyone else have an MX1200, KP900, or other USB model running on USB3.0 ports? I.E. is this a general USB3.0 problem, or something specific to that particular controller?
