Hmmm, I've been using a Prolific for years with no issues. I don't know the model number of what I have. I actually believe it came with an old Speakercraft MZC system or learner many years ago.

I too have been using a prolific (with windows 7) and all is fine.

Well i'm still stuck in the same spot with this new trendnet serial to usb. I am going to ask for a replacement MX850 cable that I bought off ebay. Maybe it was defective... I tried to do a continuity test but I don't even know if I am doing it right. The 3 wires will give readings from the db9 to the spots on the 3.5mm plug though.

Update: I called URC tech support and they said it could be the software not being updated. So I filled out a software request form and am waiting to hear back.

update: Got the updatable version of the software and updated it but still receiving "FAIL!" on the LCD of the MX-850 each time I try to upload/download...

I purchased a new programming cable and will update when I receive it
