March 5 URC Update history:
Update - IR DB Version 1.79
Update - UI Improvements

Well, as far as UI improvements, cannot see one bit of difference.
- Learn IR Dialog still does not display the full text, nor has horizontal scroll
- Cannot read the details of the Preprogrammed Models (e.g. RX-V2700 [Extend....]
...and I'm sure there are others too.

Would love to see exact detail, as it looks exactly the same, and I doubt the Yamaha RX-V2700 codes have been corrected, but I'll gladly be proved wrong :)

and on top of my continued woes, I just so happened to update my remote today with the new software. All went well, but failed restart. Then I get a RC.EXE is not a valid program!!! Killed my remote. Did they test this? Thankfully, ran LiveUpdate again and it downloaded a bunch of programs again. Seems to have brought it back to life. Phew!

Had a very similar problem yesterday and had to do reinstall of the software.

You're running your monitor at a fairly high resolution. This will tend to make fonts fairly small. (Since windows resolves fonts at a fixed pixel height, note that this has not been fixed in vista, same problem that has persisted for years now.)

To get around this, many people turn on "Large Fonts". This has the unfortunate side effect on messing up most programs. (Including many issues in most Microsoft software.)

Check to see if you have turned on "Large Fonts". Go to "Start" - then "Control Panel" - then "Display" - then "Appearance" tab - then "Font Size" selection box, and make sure "Normal Size" is checked.

Thanks for the pointer, but this is not the case. I would consider myself an Advanced IT user (been working in this field since University days). I never enable 'Large Fonts'. My other monitor is running at even higher resolution (HP LP2465) running 1920x1200. Given the work I do, I need the real estate. Certainly not going to change things because of URC's lack of attention to UI programming. They really need to get their act together in this space. However, I guess the software is actually not their own work (seems to be from OHSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. - guess in Korea).
