Hi,
two weeks ago I bought a new MX-780 from an authorized dealer (surfremotes.com).
I had a death in the family and did not even try to open the box with the remote. I had MX-810 before and had no difficulties programming it using MX editor SW.
I downloaded the new SW and opened it- I am really clueless on how to start the programming.
Can anyone give me at least an idea (step-by-step directions) on how to program one device like TV; I think I can take it from there to add other devices.

Thank you very much.

I am very sorry to hear about the death in your family. We recently had a devastating loss as well. Your avenue for support is Surfremotes. Your best bet is contacting Mike at Surf and ask them to assist you with the programming. Good luck.

Go into program in the top menu.

Then select Create & Name Devices. This will bring to into a pseudo wizard process that will step you through each setup stage for the device. Be aware that you need to click save before hitting next.

If this is your first time it will probably easier to setup one device at a time rather than trying to do them all at once.

There is also a programming manual in the help folder of the program directory in Program Files.

Hi Dalto,
Thank you for your reply. I was able to save the devices under main 2 page. Now I need to find out how to start a macro for watching TV (Need to program Cable box, TV and AV receiver all to be ON and to be on proper inputs.)
If I can accomplish one activity I think I will be fine programming the next one (like watch DVD).

Thank you

PS
I did find the manual under help but it looks like it is for someone who had some training before. I had been working 6 days a week and long hours so did not have a chance to try programming.

Just click on the button where you want the macro to be.

Down at the bottom of the screen in the middle is a window where you can put the macro. Just click the red record button and then using the remote preview in the middle go in and out of the devices and click the buttons you would hit to change the inputs. When you are done hit stop. You can then re-order the steps or add delays/logic as needed. Depending on how you do it there may be some extra steps that you can delete. Just remember to end with a page jump to wherever you want to end-up

Thanks a lot - I spoke to Mike from surfremotes where I bought the 780, and he got me started so I was able to program "watch TV" and all the soft buttons' labels the way I wanted. I just needed someone to get m started then it became more or less intuitive.
