I own the following components:
XBOX360
PS3
MARANTZ RECEIVER
SONY KDS R70 XBR2 TV
TIVO SERIES 3
I recently ugraded components, bought the new TV, PS3, TIVO etc. Since the new TV has HDMI and the sources are different, my old Pronto Pro marcos are worthless.
Rather than spending money on a 6 year old P/Pro, I figure I am better off buying a new remote.
QUESTION: Is the MX-3000 HARDER or EASIER to program and can an "average joe" program marcos for the above components?
QUESTION: If I buy off EBAY What do I look out for? I hear you can't get software if you buy on EBAY?
QUESTION: Is this basically one of the BEST remotes in this price range and superior to the Pronto Pros?
I think they look great with outstanding ergonomics.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS!!

I program both so:

q1: mx3000 is easier IMO
q2: don't buy off ebay. buy from authorized reseller only
q3: i'm not a big fan of either of these for daily use as it is primarily a touchscreen and prefer hard buttons for all functions. if you are female or have anyone in the household who is, i'd recommend a hardbutton remote such as the mx-900; women have a hard time with touchscreen due to their longer finger nails.

Male or female, I could care less, I prefer one-handed hard-button remotes.

Agreed.
However, you've been dealing with a Pronto for some time now so I imagine you already know the downsides. Personally, I prefer the MX-900 and 950. Once you get used to the remote, your fingers just find the buttons. I actually get annoyed when I have to turn on the backlight and look at the screen now.

To me, URC remotes are very easy to program. The MX-3000 is a beautiful remote and if you decide to go that way I'm sure you'll find it a nice improvement over the Pronto Pro.
