Hi all,

Recently moved my equipment from family room to the back room. Just thought it will look nicer. Only thing hanging is the TV up front now. All the equipment are working fine and responding well to mrf350 except for the TV. I have a cat 5 running from the tv to the other room. I have tried multiple emitters but none of them seems like is working. I have tested the emitters directly and they are working fine but when i try to connect it via cat5 i get no signal. Unfortunately this is causing a major headache as I am unable to control my tv and have to keep using the ir function. Any advise please.

How are you connecting your emitters to the Cat 5 cabling?
You only need one pair from your Cat 5.

Check your wiring? Emitters should flash!

If your Cat 5 cable is wired properly you can cut an emitter in half and terminate RJ45 jacks on the two ends using the center pair (blue pair).
I have done this using multiple pairs with emitters to the same location.

You may also have to increase your emitter signal strength to compensate for distance?

Thanks for the reply.

I have connected blues solid and stripped to the ends of the emitter wires. Matched the color to the other ends but no go. I will try to increase the signal strength and see if that helps.

Thanks again.

wrong wiring or ir placement on the TV if you insist that the ir bug is good.

make sure you are plugged into an emitter port.  it is easy to connect to the RF out jack by mistake since it is right next to IR 1.

And ensure the 3.5mm plug is inserted all the way. Common problem...

+1

Maybe you're blue/blue white is bad? Have you tried using something different?

What's the distance?

Hi all,

I have tried all the different combos but no luck. Length is about 30ft. I have tried to increase the signal strength but no go still. Any other suggestions please.

Thank you all for the help

Duct Tape,

The end is terminating in input 1-6 ( tried them all) on the back panel of msc400. Also made sure that the RF says all and have tried single inputs too.

are you using a URC ir bug? Are you seeing the feedback when you press the remote?

Can you post your file here? Upload to something like Dropbox and share the link and paste it here.

For testing purposes, skip the MSC400 and use the MRF350 only. Much more basic. It will either work or will not work. I believe the Xantech emitters have flashers in them, do they not? If yes, they should flash when you press a button IF the wiring is correct and everything is setup correctly. When you connect them directly before you extend them, are they flashing? The fact you said that they worked before splicing leads me to believe you have something awry in the way you spliced the wires.

Was this a preexisting cat5 cable that was already in the house? If so your problem might be that it is running through a network hub and not a direct run. If you know for sure that this is a direct wire use a cable tester and make sure the wire pairs are not broken somewhere along the path.
