For years, my MRF-260 has been working great with my MX-450. I sort of regret not getting the 6-port 350 but a couple IR splitters have done the job for me.

Weird, weird thing started happening yesterday. When it receives any command from the remote, it acts as if the button was being pressed continuously. Obviously, the devices are not responding to the commands. I've confirmed it's not the remote by watching the base station after a key press and removing the batteries from the remote...the base station kept putting out a signal even though it was not receiving one from the remote. So it's definitely a base station problem.

Anyone else have this problem? I'm a bit concerned about buying a new replacement base station if this is a common problem. I don't mind buying an out-of-date product with no support but not if others have been experiencing this. I would hate to lose the utility of my MX-450 but if it's time to upgrade, it's time to upgrade.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I've found that if I relocate the antenna and with it the base unit of the MRF260 to the trash it lets me install a MRF350 with it's remote antenna much easier.

For years your MX450 and MRF260 worked great until something changed in your location. What new box did you buy and install and/or what HDMI cable did you put in near the base station? Is the RF light on the remote on all the time? Do you live in a marine area?

That's hilarious. No, no changes that I'm aware of. No new boxes, devices, router, microwave, phone, nothing. I do not live in a marine area.

I'm unsure of what you're referring to as the RF light. There is a little "radio wave" icon that pops up on the remote while it is sending any RF macro. And no, it doesn't stay on all the time. Just sends the string of commands and then stops transmitting as it should.

Did an FBI van park out front of your house recently?

One device is putting out RF interference. I had the exact thing happen with a preamp once, only when it received an IR signal - then it went ballistic.

Currently cable boxes and blu ray players are the most likely culprits. Move your 260 around and away from the components for test.

...and fold the antenna all the way down to see if I am right. The remote has plenty of output to hit it. If its interference the antenna down trick may get you a measure of reliability.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

My video projector causes RF interference with the MRF-260. URC suggested removing the antenna form the 260. It did solve the problem, but now reception is no more reliable than IR.

I have a used MRF-350 that I plan to install soon, maybe that will work better.

On the advice of a local URC dealer, I clamped a ferrule around the antenna. Currently, everything is back to normal. It hasn't been long enough to say for certain that it is a permanent fix but all seems fine for now.

Thanks for everyone's insight.

By the way, he told me that this is the solution that URC itself recommends.
