Hi all,

I have been using URC for the past couple years and happy with it. Trying to expand the system for the whole house. I am at a road block now. Guess with mx10 or 20 I need a dealer to install due to inability to obtain the total automator software. I can buy the mx10-20 online but since i don't have the access to the software.. the option is not looking viable. ( Darn)

My question is if i invest in mrx1 or 2, will my current remotes work? I have mx980, mx 900 and mx 3000. Also can i use one mrx2 for few rooms or they strictly are for one room only?

thanks in advance.

you could still use the MRX2 as a dummy basestation with an RFX250.  the remotes would only control the IR devices connected to it.  they wouldn't do RS232, Relay, Sensor, or IP control.

the MRX2 can be used for more than one room.  all depends on how the system is programmed and the wiring is done.

and you are correct, software is not available to end users for Total Control.

Duct Tape,

Thanks for replying. Few more question

So my current remotes will work then?
Also is it worth the upgrade, if i have mrf base stations?
Lastly, will it do any good or improvement or not really?

Thanks again in advance

the remotes won't work for the rest of the system.

they will only work via RF, to the IR ports of the MRX2 if you have the RFX250 plugged into it.

If you are considering Total Control, I would sell the other remotes on ebay.  it isn't worth the hassle.  Total Control is great if you plan on having real automation.  (Lights, HVAC, security, whole home audio, etc)

Where can you buy the MRX10 or MRX20 online? It is not available (not supposed to be) to purchase online.
