JonW747, I was not threatening you in any way; just cautioning how you might treat some people in here (Custom Installer's Lounge). I was trying to help you, if I missed something in your post, I appologize. I was merely reacting to the device you had originally mentioned, being the DTV receiver. Those receivers are notorious for having IR overload problems. As far as the Rich_Guy comment, I'm trying to warn of some negative comments and feelings he so plentifully expresses on this site. I personally feel that URC makes some great products, and do not feel they deserve all the negativity surrounding them right now.

The RFX-150 that comes with the MRF300 is a wide band RF receiver, it picks up from about 350-500MHz. So if the light is blinking on the antenna but not the MRF, maybe something is interfering with the signal. It could be a bad MRF, I personally haven't had one yet, but if you feel it is have your dealer replace it and you'll know soon enough.

On one other note, please don't bring up the "I'm an engineer" phrase, nothing against you or engineers in general, but we see that way too often here (I'm not trying to start anything, just friendly advice).

Good luck with your remote.

Assuming the MRF-200 keeps performing well, I'm just going to return the MRF-300. Maybe it's defective. Maybe there's a batch problem and a swap won't help. Maybe it just doesn't like my setup. Maybe maybe maybe ... but I have some Xantech dual emitters on order, so I'll be able to deck my MRF-200 out to support 12 devices, and if it works? No need to deal with the MRF-300.

The only reason I bought the MRF-300, is that I figured for the cost of the emitters and adapters I'd be well on my way to the total cost of the MRF-300 and I'd still have the MRF-200 to keep/use/sell/etc.

Anyway, as for the other stuff, all you can do is give someone a chance and see if they're worth your time or not. Don't assume everyone who comes around here with a complaint is out to destroy the company. I'm not. I'm trying to expose problems and get them addressed so the next guy who purchases one of these remotes is treated correctly. URC is taking care of me, and they're addressing the problems with Comp-U-Plus. I could have snagged a black-market version of the s/w and let it go at that, but that's not my nature. I don't like to "cheat". Maybe you don't realize this, but my actions are going to help CI's and authorized dealers who play by the rules, because one way or another Comp-U-Plus is going to start supporting the URC product line correctly, or they won't be an AD anymore.

This is win-win.

Cheers

For me and many others I bet, I bought URC products from an online .com because I didn't know any better about URC policies with CI's etc. I came here when I ran into issues with the URC devices. SurfRemote provided helpful hints and solutions to my problems. The next time I need to control AV equipment, I'll be looking on www.surfremotecontrol.com
