I'm new to the 780, but I'm slowly gaining some understanding on how the software works.

I have been using an MX-450 for a few years and both my wife and I are fully trained on the feel of press and hold for macros.

There are more options on the 780, what options would I need to have the same feel as the 450?

I tried 1 second, but it doesn't appear to be responding in a consistent way. Sometimes it acts like it was set to normal, and not press and hold.

Here's an example macro:
Main page-
Tivo soft button -press and hold for 1 sec.
-jump to tivo
-power on zone 2 on the AVR
-select tivo input on zone 2.

Sometimes pressing it "normal" will send a macro, sometimes it won't.
Here's a link to my CCP program if you are curious.

Thanks for your help.

Why are you using press and hold for main macros?
You will also need delays between powering on devices and selecting inputs!

Turn on devices in order of slowest responding first....delays..... than start selecting inputs!

Also your file has a MRF-350 and MRF-260 neither of which are configured?

If you are using your remote as a point and pray device without a base-station; I wish you luck!

The MX-780 is a nice remote which deserves a base station to function reliable.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I added both base stations, but the 350 is not being used yet. The 260 works well, but is subject to interference from my video projector. The solution was to remove the antenna from the 260 base station with the idea that the remote would have enough power to reach the base without an antenna, whereas the RF from the projector will not.

That sort of works. The end result is that the RF from the remote to the base station is no more reliable than IR.

I bought the 350 used some time ago with the intention of placing its remote antenna in a location that will work with the remote, but not be affected by the projector.

now that I have the 780, the problem might be a non-issue. I don't know yet.

why am I using press and hold for main macros? That's a fair question. I could say "because that's how I've always done it". The reason I did that in the past was so I could, for instance, leave the Tivo, then make an adjustment to another device such as lights, or projector, and then come back to the Tivo without anything getting switched.

I think I can just remove the power-on code. The power comes on when a source is selected anyway. I just though that a power-on command would improve reliability.

thanks,
~Jay

Ok, I'm not getting it.

I set up a macro on the main page 2 (called Projector), and each device is set to press and hold for 3 seconds.

half of them do indeed work, but they are not press and hold. The macro triggers with a normal press.

The other half don't do anything.

Any thoughts?

I figured out the before and after thing. Anything before is what will happen with a normal press, and after is what will happen after the timed press.

But some of my macros still don't work.

I have 5 devices:
Dune HD
Tivo
MCE
Roku
Chromecast

Dune, Tivo and Chromecast work, the MCE and Roku do not.

I have all five devices on both the main page (TV) and the second page (Projector). The same devices don't repond to a macro on both main pages.

If I use the AVR device and press the input button, it always works flawlessly.

Any Ideas?

thanks,
