Can the MX-3000 handle the new DirecTV Genie? (RC-72 remote)

Just upgraded to the newest DirecTV DVRs, and I'm disappointed to find out that their RC72 remote will only control my Pioneer audio receiver's volume via IR. I still have my MX-3000 which controlled everything, but it's getting old and starting to fail, so I was hoping to replace it with the RC72.

Can the MX-3000 be programmed to handle the new Genie DVR? If so, maybe I'll invest in a new MX-3000.

Thanks...

MX-3000 can learn IR codes if you don't have access to the codes. If you do "learn" from the DTV remote, be sure to set it for IR 1st. I set up an MX-450 to work with a Genie 2 weeks ago doing this.

Directv codes haven't changed. Code set 173 is the one to use. The mx3000 will work fine.

Thought so too. Yet my current configuration no longer powers up the DVR.

Right, the discretes no longer work on the new Genie, but the rest of the commands do.

Sounds like you're saying discrete power codes no longer work on the Genie. Is that correct or it this just related to the MX-3000 editor? I'm thinking about switching from Dish to DirecTV, but if there's no discretes, then I'm no longer thinking that way.

No, it has nothing to do with editor, its a fact that the genie no longer responds to the old discretes that hr24 receivers do.
