Hey, everyone--longtime lurker (and grateful for all the great advice), first-time poster.

I have grown tired of looking at the flashers on the front of all my equipment and am interested in connecting my MRF-250s directly to my equipment (MOTO cable box/FIOS, Xbox One, Onkyo 706). In order to do so, would the following setup work?

3.5mm Stereo Patch Cable w/ Built in Resistors - 6' : PR4-1

StarTech GCAUD2535MF 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm Audio Cable Adapter - Male to Female
[Link: amazon.com]

I think we're all pretty clear on the shortcomings for the MRF-250s, so I'm hoping we can keep this thread just to the facts on whether this combo will work.

I don't think the jack on the cable box will be active, and the one on the Xbox is an IR output, not an input, but you should be able to rear-plug the Onkyo. And the IR plugs on the MRF-250 are mono, not stereo (though that usually doesn't matter).

The IR in on the back of the cable boxes is usually for an IR receiver so it could have 12v out as well. Don't plug a mono cable in!

Only the Onkyo can be trusted to work.

If the flashing bothers you, get non-visible emitters.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

A buddy of mine has a Fios box and we lost an hour trying to get that IR in to work. As stated, it does not work and no option in the menu to turn it on. It sounds like we were lucky we used a stereo 3.5 cable. :/

I use the cable company supplied eye and tape an emitter to it.

One of the changes they made from the 250 to the 260 is the buffered outputs for direct connect.
