Well...I don't know. LOL.

I have all of the sources running via HDMI to the TV inputs. And since the ARC HDMI is plugged into the TV AND SOUNDBAR that it simply passes the sound to the soundbar. I have no sound coming out of the TV...its all the soundbar/sub.

There is a specific HDMI port for ARC. Then I simply use the leftover HDMI ports for each of the sources (DVR, BD). So, there is not input switching aside from source. It only uses the ARC hdmi for sound and passes it to the soundbar regardless of which inputs are sending sound.

Interesting. Like I said, I've never used ARC so never looked into how it works. I just heeded the warnings of others and decided to never use it. I've had enough issues with CEC to never want to leave it on anyway.

Maybe I'll have time to do a write up on the True/False variable (there may already be some on the site if you search). It's a bit late and I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow so I have to hit the sack.

Well, if I set it up like the suggestions (with everything going to soundbar) then I don't have to use ARC....EXCEPT...

If I want to use smart tv functions. The TV must be able to send audio back to the soundbar. You must use ARC for that as far as I know.

How about optical out from TV to soundbar input?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

If I don't want to use ARC, then thats the only option left.

Here is a question for programming....

I use a LOT of aliases that go back to the device pages on my remote. I did this because i read once that this way, you only have to change a code one place if something goes wrong. However, I cannot seem to figure that part out. I found a discrete code for some things, and I changed it in on place, but when I deleted it in the alias and then put it back, the button didn't point to it.
