Anyone ever attempt to replace an LCD screen on any of the URC remotes? I have a MX-1200 with a cracked LCD, and bad battery leads. However, if I plug the charging cable directly into the bottom of the remote, it powers up. I can even communicate with CCP via the USB port.

Since people replace cell phone screens, I wonder if this can be done.

I cracked open the case and found some numbers on the back of the LCD, but Google didn't come up with anything.

After cleaning up the remote and putting it all back together, the remote is now working with just the battery.

Now hopefully the screen can be replaced.

Seems silly to invest money into old technology, especially when it has that many problems....

You're joking, right???

Sept 2011 Release.

First review on RC Jan 2012.

To give you some perspective: IN sept 2011, iOS 4 was still the release firmware for the iphone

By Jan 2012, at least ios 5.0.1 was released. Do you remember iOS 5? That's the last firmware that the original ipad ran on. Do you ever have clients wanting to use their gen 1 ipad for control only to find out the app doesn't even support ios 5.

Yeah. The MX-1200 is OLD TECHNOLOGY. Give me a break edmund. It's a bottom of the barrel CCP remote from 4 years ago priced at $450 NEW. Why would anyone drop more than $10-20 to fix this? It's done. It's dead. Time to move on. Should people replace the screens in their MX-6000s as well?

$599. Still sells for $599 and is still one of the best designed remotes out there. Even if it was a mx6000, if HE wants to fix, why the hell do you care? He loves his remote and he wants it fixed.

Even if it's old tech, I haven one... along with a MX-780 and MX-890 that control 90+% of my home theater gear AND integrated with Homeseer (home automation) via serial and X-10 (also old tech, but still working). Since LCD's of this size seem to cost <$20, seems like a reasonable route if I can find the LCD. Maybe finding another dead MX-1200 on ebay with a good screen my be another route, depending on the price.

Could you do us all a favor?  Please write up a SysIntegration book on how everyone here should spend their time and money.  I expect at least 3 chapters on URC products, with one dedicated completely to bitching about the MSC400.  This way one can refer to your book before posting.

ready?  go!

I just purchased an MX-1200 to replace an MX-3000 and I'm loving it. If the MX-1200 is "OLD TECHNOLOGY" what should I have purchased that's newer? The MX-1200 is URC's second newest remote in the Complete Control line (the newer MX-890 doesn't have a touch screen). As a DIY'er I don't have access to much of anything else. No Total Control, no CCGen2, no RTI! So what should I have purchased? Harmony? A phone or tablet with no hard buttons? Sys-you like to offer criticisms but how about trying some suggestions, if you have any?

Don't get him started.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I used to think you were a cool guy. When you posted the Samsung TV RS232 for basically every known function, I was impressed.

No I think you and goldenrulz are in some giant.....CJ.... on the CC forum. Quite frankly, you can have it. I am busy dealing with bigger and better things. Take all the MS400s and MRF260s circo mid 2000s and have a party servicing old technology. Every two hours billable you spend messing with one of those, you could buy another one new. Way to take care of the customer.

You know what Duct Tape. I had an account on this forum dating back to 2005. I was one of the good ole boys. You know why that account died? Because you got some wild hair and decided to troll that account.

So I deleted it and became this. And while you mess around playing with 260s, I post again and again in discrete forum. So why don't you do me a favor and go away.

I am seriously about to drop this whole RC forum visiting all together, find every old discrete code I've dropped on here, erase them, then dump my account, JUST BECAUSE OF YOU.

GO THE EFF AWAY!

So because we are tired of your constant negative posts, you gotta get all nasty? And you started a new account to somehow hide who you are? Awesome. For the record, I have never bothered with MSC400's. I sell TC now, and occasional CCP remotes, including the MX1200. Not everyone needs or wants two way communication and the MX1200 is a DAMN fine remote to tackle those systems. If you wish to leave the site, so be it.

No. I have the good sense of mind to have a proper OP to be cautious with my IPs and PID. I am leaving because you two are bullying me. And I don't have time for it. It's all yours now.

What are you, 3 years old? I mentioned what the remote retails for and always has. I mentioned that its always been a good remote, and that the OP has the right to want to get it fixed, no matter what your opinion on the matter is. HOW is that bullying? I pointed out in another thread that the OP mentioned he tried using a remote line of site, in which you misread what he meant. HOW is that bullying?
