I have not had my MX-980/system up and running since I packed it away for two reason around 2010. I Moved from the home it was installed and the 980 screen cracking just prior to move. I have not been in a residence that I really wanted to spend the money to replace the 980 until now.

So.... I have unpacked the remote charged it completely, found my old editor, opened it up, updated software. Updated drivers since I am now on Windows 7 instead of Windows 98. Being that the LCD is cracked and black i believe the software is talking to the 980 because it chimes when I send setting changes, etc...

So here is my question:
If I exchange my old 980 (2008) for the lasted production 980 will my old editor work with the latest production 980 I will receive in exchange?
Thanks for your help and time!!! James

Do you have CCP? I don't remember if there was ever a standalone editor for MX-980.

Assuming you have CCP, install it and make sure it upgrades and you will be good to go.

Yes there was a standalone editor for the MX-980 and I'm pretty sure the new ones won't work with it but not 100%. Hopefully someone else here can chime in and tell you for sure before making the purchase.

Made a call to URC today and was informed that MX-980 editor will not work with the late production 980's. So I now have to find a used early production 980 and transfer files and update with my MX editor or purchase a MX-450. When did CCP take over? Anyway to tell by production S/N etc... on remote of when CCP took over? Thanks for you help and time. James

Your old file can be converted to CCP. I would look to buy the 980 from a dealer who is willing to give you a copy of CCP.

I don't stay updated but last I knew dealers still have the option to provide CCP software. Call Mike at SurfRemote and see if that's still true and if he can help you.
