I've made a boo-boo and purchased a relay board for a friend thinking it was IR but of course operating at 433Mhz it is not.

The relay is described at [Link: jaycar.com.au]

But the HTM 850 does put out RF so maybe it could be used? What made me think this could be possible is that the supplied remote needs to be paired up with the relay board, meaning the board is not set at a specific frequency but must learn the output from the supplied remote.

But if the operating RF of the HTM 850 is nowhere near the 433Mhz range then that is obviously a pipe dream.

Comment/suggestion anyone?

TIA

John

Thanks edmund, it would have been a miracle if the 850 had been compatible. I'll look for an IR relay for him now - lots around.

The silliest IR-controlled relay is the Radio Shack Antenna Switch. It's something like $40. It's got an IR remote with A and B buttons. I've opened one up and used the relay for something else. It's terribly DIY but it works. I believe if it loses power the relay opens and stays open when you restore power.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
