I am guessing he is speaking of the ease of pressing the hard buttons vs touch screen, which takes more effort and reaching to accomplish. In my experience it has been very reliable however.

If it's touch screen versus hard buttons, that's no big deal. The MX-1200 has hard buttons for most common functions, although, it doesn't have the four colored buttons like the MX-890 which is why I initially considered the 890. Coming from the MX-3000, any hard button remote (probably) will be significantly easier to use.

Hi, I am thinking of replacing my old MX-3000s too, but would like to do so without having to change any of the rest of my home theatre set-up, meaning wired IR emitters. Also, my wife might prefer continuing to use the MX-3000...

Will my existing MRF250s work with the MX-1200? If so, the MX-1200 seems the best of both worlds, touch screen AND hard buttons?

I got an MX-1200 a week ago and have been very happy so far. After having an MX-3000 for a decade it's a pretty big change.

I also have a discontinued base station (MRF-300) which I'm still able to use without changing anything. I just added an MRF-350 in CCP and renamed it to MRF-300. You can probably do the same by adding an MRF-260 and renaming that, if you like. Neither the MRF-300, nor the MRF-250, show as available base stations in CCP.

Thanks Bobli! I might just give it a try then :-)

I have a couple dozen MX5000s in the field. Long enough to have begun replacing batteries. I guess 3 years plus. Maybe that is a small sample, but I have had no reports of battery life being short, nor have I ever had to send one in for repairs. I would say that compared to an all button remote, my clients perceive them as more of a luxury product, with the touchscreen and haptic feedback. My experience has been very good with them. That being said, I do not consider them to be Wi-Fi ready. I use them in IR mode with MRF base stations.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

MX-5000 not Wi-Fi ready? Sounds like another confirmation for my purchase of the MX-1200 rather than the MX-5000. The MX-1200 has a touchscreen (although it's a bit smaller than the MX-5000's) plus a hard button numeric keypad. Also, it's significantly cheaper.

I really wanted to play around with IP, and RS-232, however, reliability is of the greatest importance. I did find an MSC-400 so I will be able to do 1-way RS-232. Can anyone comment on the reliability of IP utilizing the MRX-2 with a tablet (in my case, an Android tablet)?
