Hello there,

I have a strange problem with a MX-780 and a MRF-350.
I had to teach the MX-780 the codes of an cable box that wasn't in the database.
For some odd reason the codes work when they send via IR by the remote itself, but as soon, as I send them to the MRF-350 the box won't recognize them.
The same cable box is in a different room attached to a MRX-1.
I changed the the base station to the MRX-1 and the codes work.
Really odd...
All the other codes work with the MRF-350 - also some other codes I had to teach the remote.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Sebastian

He did mention that all other codes for other devices work with the mrf350, so doubt its the rfid.

Does the emitter flash on the cable box? Do you have it set to RF and is the cable box set to ALL or the specific emitter? Are you sure the emitter is placed properly? Have you tried turning the emitter intensity up or down?

I'd also try cracking the emitter open and seeing if it is part of the set that URC sent out that were opaque rather than transparent. I am still running into those from time to time.

Meant to say port assignment (both are in software settings...). Also check if the emitter is seated fully in the MRF.

Yes, the port assignment is correct, also the RFID. I'm able to control all the other devices - so the RFID is correct. I tried the individual port and also tried all ports - same result.
The emitter does flash and I tried different emitters (the URC flashing ones, non sleeved, that come with the unit and non URC ones).
I also tried placing the emitter on different locations on the cable box - the same location works on the other box in the other room.

Did you adjust the emitter intensity?

I suggest you swap boxes with the other room and test both systems to see what the results are

I'll give it a try...
I will also try to swap the output of the MX-5000 in the other room to the MRF-350, to see if it works then.
This way I can rule out if it's the fault of the Remote or the MRF-350.

It's probably your best next step. Report back once you've had a chance to do the swap. Good luck.

Today I had some time for testing.
I routed the signal for the cable box on the MX-5000 to the MRF-350 with the same result.
The box doesn't respond at all.
I also replaced the RFX-250 - also no luck.
I'll try swapping the MRX-1 with the MRF-350 next.
If that fails, I'll try swapping the cable boxes...

I thought we left is as you were going to try swapping the boxes. This is what I referred to as your best next step. This either eliminates the control system as the culprit or the box.

I had this problem last week. I ended up using the blaster on the MRF and that worked fine. This has happened to me before with TW SA boxes, probably 2 or 3 times in the last 8 years.
