It's simple enough to use the serial database but I need to use some commands that are not in the database. How do you use serial commands that aren't in the database. I have used CCP for about 4 years but this is the 1st time I've used serial control.

If you know the serial commands most of the code sets have unused lines that you can enter the commands manually.
As an example if you were using a Denon AVR you would put Volume Up in the label column and in the next column put in vol+.
Check the manual or contact the manufacturer for serial commands.

If you can get your hands on the protocol for the device, you can likely convert it. I have had to do this a few times. Not fun, but can be done.
