I'm using a MX-850 and MRF-250 in a classroom to control a TV, projector, DVD/VCR, Laser Disc Player, and a receiver. A few years ago the IR blaster on the MRF-250 failed so I started using flashers exclusively. Things were good until a few weeks ago when I started getting some intermittent failures.

I send a signal to, for example, the projector, and even though I can see the flasher working, the projector doesn't respond reliably. The same is true of the TV. The receiver seems to respond ok. Today I had some spare time so I switched two channels, projector and receiver. Initial tests indicate that both devices are now responding well.

I think it may be time to replace the MRF-250. Can anyone give me some advice on what to replace it with? I know newer options have come along since I made my purchase a few years ago.

If a 250 worked, a 260 will also.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The MRF250 and to a lesser extent the 260 are known to have interference issues. The MRF350 is the base station of choice for most installers because you can move the antenna away from the interference. I never use the 260. Also note the MRF250 used emitters with 2.5mm plugs. The 260 and 350 use 3.5mm plugs, so you will have to change your emitters.

Completely seconding this. The 260 are ripe with issues in interference.

The interference issues are well documented for some, and practically nonexistent for others. It would look here to be based on local conditions in particular system set ups. I personally have dozens and dozens of 250s and 260s in the field and do not consider them to be a liability.

350 would always be preferable, but if fewer than four devices need control, and he has had success with a 250, he will have success with a 260.

Thanks, everyone. I decided to go with the MRF-350. The few extra dollars are worth the peace of mind.
