Hi Guys..

I have a six year old MX-980 that needs replacing..

Just wondering what the proper upgrade path is..

Here are my current issues with the 980.

Issues with RF interference so I was wondering if there was anything that used WiFi.
No Color Buttons for TiVo and the like.
Kinda long.

It seems that my only option is the MX-890, and I've heard it has limitations with custom graphics. I make all my own custom graphics, so I was wondering what those limitations are..

Is there anything new coming out? With most new devices network enabled, it would be cool to control everything via that network.

Thanks!

The 890 is the way to go. All the graphics you made with the 980 will work for the 890 since the resolution is the same. If you are having rf issues, you should upgrade to the mrf350 if you don't already have one. If you have the mrf350, then the rf noise is probably installation related.

You can go network with their Total Control or ccGen2 products. They each have a similar remote to the MX-890 but wifi. Graphics are workable.

I do have the MRF-350.. the noise seems to happen randomly every few months for an hour at a time.. then it's gone. I do live in in high density area. so that's that.

What's the difference between the Total Control and the ccGen2 products?

Is it possible to control TiVos via IP and possibly retrieve info from the TiVos.. like current channel and program?

Are you a end user? Both CCGen2 and Total Control are locked down so only dealers may program it. If you are looking for a product you can work with on your own, you're better off sticking with CCP, which is supposed to be a dealer only program, but of course it is left up to dealers to distribute. That is not the case with the programs to program the TC and CCGen2 gear.

2-way in CCP is now ccGen2.

MX-5000 which is still a current CCP sku have limited 2-way, they have moved all their R&D to ccGen2 & TotalControl.
