First, it might not sound like it, but I've successfully done URC programming before, but it's been a while. I'm using a ThinkPad with Windows 7, but this is the first time I've used CCP on it.

Now that I've got basic stuff in the remote, and I need to review which Panasonic projector commands will work, I need to download the file and try it out. When I do, I get

Downloaded Error
Can’t Connect

This is true whether I click on ActiveSync or Network... looking at manuals I think it should be ActiveSync, right? And I've restarted the software a few times, and cleared the programming on the MX-980.

The laptop's Device Manager shows the USB port to be COM3. COM1 is in use by Intel Active Management Technology, so that’s not likely to change! And I find no place in CCP to change the COM setting.

I may have connected the remote to the computer before installing CCP. I suspect that because a URC programming manual says I should get a wizard to get the driver, but that did not come up. When I connected it today, it went through the stages of setting itself up but I got an error message saying there was no driver and it might not work. Yup.

How do I go back a couple of steps to set it up? Actually, I’ve got a second 980 – could I start the software, plug that one in (which has not been plugged into the computer yet), and that one would set up a driver for the MX-980, which would then work with the other 980? I don’t know where to go in the computer to start this USB connection process again.

Thanks for the help. Trying a computer restart after this posts.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
