I am setting a system up for the first time with a DMS-1200. Everything appears to be fine in the DMS setup portion in Accelerator, but when I export it it fails to export to the DMS-1200. One thing I noticed that I think is strange is that when I did the network setup and discovered the DMS on the network, it has a static IP address instead of DHCP. But the fact that it found it tells me it should be ok. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas what is going wrong?
Thanks

Maybe you are using different terminology than I'm used to, but what do you mean by export to the DMS-1200? It seems to me if the unit came out of the box with a static IP assigned to it then the unit was probably used before. Is the static IP address in the same address scheme as the rest of the network? If it is I would check the router settings for the DHCP range and see if the static IP is falling within that range. If so maybe there is already another device on the network using that IP address and causing problems when you are trying to "export" to the DMS. You can try unplugging the power from the DMS and pinging the IP address. If you get a response from the ping with the power unplugged there is another device using the ip address. If this is the case I would try changing the static IP to something outside of the DHCP range and try to "export" to it again. Hope this helps

Hold the reset button for ~20 seconds to factory reset it. Search for it again in network setup and see if it finds it. It should not be set to a static ip out of the box.

By export I mean "download system configuration". Anyway the reset did the trick. Thanks

Well almost all sorted out. I have only 1 zone set up with a SNP-1 added to the system. When I click on SNP-1 setup from the Tools menu I get a dialog box saying no SNP-1 devices found, but I can discover it on the network setup and I can ping the device.

It sounds like this is your first TC project. RC is a great place to get information but you will get way more help in the control room. These issues you are having will probably already have an answer in the control room..that would the URC a Control Room.

Yes this is my first project and thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Not to sound stupid, but which control room, Lighting & Home Control or RS-232 and IP Control room?

I am referring to the URC control room that all dealers sign up for when they become a dealer. If you are already sighted up ( if not contact URC to get registered) goto -Total Control / ccGEN2 Forums-Hardware Discussion-DMS Audio Distribution (TC Only). The forums changed a while ago and I find a little more difficult to navigate. Welcome to the TC community!!!!!!

I'm guessing you bought this from a dealer and they gave you software?

Bought it second hand with the software. I'm starting up a small side business and thought this would be a good project. I'm a computer programmer by trade so the networking and macro coding will come natural. It's the figuring out how URC components work that is the challenge...not exactly plug-n-play as I expected :) Doesn't look like using URC's forum is going to be an option either since they require a dealer sponsor.

The software is also dealer only, not just the forum. In fact, you have to be a direct dealer of URC to have access to the hardware. Buying equipment second hand is fine, but the software is not supposed to be in the hands of anyone that is not a dealer. If you are serious about opening a business, you will have to go through the proper avenues, including acquiring a sales and use tax permit and then apply to become a direct dealer with URC, and make an opening order purchase, as well as attend training.
