What is the most reliable and least expensive pc programable model of the UCR models that you guys recomend in case that there is a need to upgrade my remote?
Btw I use it for a home theater with less than 10 devices.

Thanks for your response Joe. Could you elaborate a little about this remote? I was just reading that the URC remotes can't not be programmed by the end user but only by a professional programmer. If that is correct then there is no use for us DYI guys with that brand.

This is a computer programmable remote, available legitimately thru an authorized URC dealer.

While it is always recommended to get their remotes professionally programmed, many end users have worked with the URC dealer in obtaining the software, once the initial program is done, so they (the end user) can make changes, add favorites, ect.

What is the name of the software used to program the URC pc programable remotes?

Change of subject:
If I want to program macros on the MX-650 (not pc programmable). Is there any way to prevent the tv to turn off every time I go from one activity to the other? I mean since there is no independent command for on and off. My tv is a LG Plasma model 60PK550.

You will have to speak with a dealer to get the software (if they agree to provide it, ask first!!!). The program is not available for download to end users, so if you found it online, it would be an illegal copy and download.

If the MX650 does not have discrete power on and off commands, then I believe you are out of luck as I do not believe you can update the library on that remote. I have never worked with it though, so I could be wrong, but I do not think I am.

Certain mx-650 can be upgraded via PCL300, if you have xp computer. For remote without discretes, the use of UEI one-for-all/ radio shack remotes that take advanced codes(EFC). These are 3 and 5 digit codes for individual functions, like power on or off. A current model of UEI remote is the RCA RCRP05BR. No other RCA model will do.

How do I know if my MX-650 is upgradable with this PCL3000? I do see a 7 pins connectors in the battery compartment.

If you put macro on the device key, put a pause or two at the beginning to make it a push & hold macro, so it won't fire each time you just want to enter a device.

And to put a macro on the device key, after entering program mode, and picking macro, press the page key until top of screen changes from macro to main, than pick the device key you wish to program.
