Is it possible to communicate from an RFTX-1 (connected to an MRX-1) to an MRF-260? They both use the 418MHz channel, but I'm not sure there isn't some "wrapping" around the messages sent that the MRF-260 expects from RF-remotes.

My use case is this:
I have an existing setup with an MX5000 connecting via RF to two MRF-260s (in different areas) for RF control of my home theater. I am adding an MRX-1 (mostly for fun) so I can use an old iPad as well. Unfortunately the MRX-1 is only located next to 1 of the MRF-260s, so to control all of my devices I will need the MRX-1 to translate from network commands to RF to be received by both MRF-260s.

Any thoughts?

I am a little curious about this myself. I will strap an rftx-1 into the input slot of a mrx-1/2 (of course this input is designed for the rfx-250).

I am not sure why you don't just get an rfx-250 and plug it into the designed slot into the mrx-1 and add a new base station to your mx500 in CCP. I currently have one talking to 4 different base stations (base stations that are also taking tcp/ip commands from the MRX-10).

Are you just trying to avoid buying one more part or is this actually a technical question about how you get your ipad/mx5000 to talk to all of your gear?

In theory you could plug a RFTX1 into port 6 on a MRX2 and route all of your devices to RF/port 6 since the RFTX1 is a IR>RF translator. The problem would be that the MRF260 is going to receive the signal and output everything to one IR output.

What I've been rolling around in my head is this: Program a MSC400 and then a MX890 or whatever you have on hand as a wand remote to control the 400 with triggers on each of the keys. The set that MX890 to out IR instead of RF. Use that MX890 to teach those MSC400 triggers as IR codes to another device which you can then import into the iPad app.

iPad app sends triggers to the MRX2 which has all devices routed to port 6, the RFTX1. The RFX250 on the MSC400 receives those signals and executes the commands associated with those triggers.

It's pretty complicated but I think that would work.

This doesn't solve my problem. My issue is not the MX5000 -- that will correctly communicate with all of the devices I need even without the second base station (the MRX-1) because there are 2 MRF-260s setup in all the places I need.

My problem is that I can't run more wires (well -- I can't easily anyway) to the center island of the room which has the TV on it. If I want the iPad to control the TV, then I need to control it through the MRF-260 on that island which only receives commands through RF. This works from the MX-5000 already without changing anything. The MRX-1 is in the A/V closet, not near the TV.

I could always buy a second MRX, but yes -- I am trying to avoid doing that (it doesn't seem like it should be necessary).

Why is it only going to route to one IR output? What if I have the MRX-1 setup to output to all IR ports? How does the IR routing on the MRF-260 work?

BTW I'm not sure this works anyway. When I've tried the RFTX-1 in port 6 on the MRX-1 and sent a command (using the 418MHz channel), I don't see it registering with the MRF-260, even when it is using ID-0.

It's only going to route to one port because the routing is determined by the device settings in CCP and you already have that device routed to port 6 for the MRX.
