If I want to test programming for TRC-780

Is it mandatory to buy MRX-10 to to do that. Will I be able to program the remote so it works via InfraRed and not buy anything else related. This is just for some experimentation on how TRC will workout for a future implementation.

Yes, you will require a MRX10 in order to use the TRC-780. Furthermore, none of the Total Control remotes have IR built in, you have to use a MRX-10, MRX1 or MRX2, or a MRX4IR in order to supply IR to a device.

To correct myself a bit, you can program without the MRX10, but you will not be able to do anything with hardware without a MRX10.

Hmm. Makes sense. Is the IR not available for TRC-780 or the entire total control family?

All total control remotes are like that. You have to connect an ir emitter to your ir devices.

Well. That is bad.

I have my CompleteControl remote MX-890. It does all the things that I want using the MRX-1 and MRF-350.

I programmed my Fan, LED lights, Airconditioner and operate them using IR. I keep changing my Fan here and there so I cannot use IR emitter for fan.

The reason to look for Total control is to have feature of controlling from outside the home. (Like turning on the AC when leaving from work)

Do you think CCP version2 can be conrolled from outside the home?

CCgen2 also does not produce IR from the remote. These products are dealer only and unlike CCP, the software cannot be provided to end users.
