Hey everybody, been a looong time since I've posted here. Anyways, I've moved up to a MX-3000 and I think the IR portion may be dead. It learns just fine, and has no problems using the MRF-250 base that came with it to control everything. I've been through the RF control settings already. The remote is running firmware version 2.23.2009.3021, and the editor is version 1.40.012. I've tried removing the battery and using the reset button with no changes. Also can't pick up the IR blasters using the camera in my phone, other remotes show up no problem. If it is a hardware issue, is it something repairable? I have no problem soldering most things, if the culprit is easily identified.

What devices are you trying to control with IR? Are the devices in the same room you are using the remote or are you using an IR extender? If using an extender have you tried taking the remote where the equipment is and trying it there? Can you post a screenshot of your RF control settings? Also not all phone cameras (like my iPhone 4) can see the IR blaster from a remote control so try using a different camera.

I am trying to control a denon receiver, epson projector, comcast cable box, samsung bluray player, pelican a/v switch and a X10 IR receiver. They're all in the same room as the remote, no extender being used. Tried a different camera and still can't see IR blasts from the MX, but could see them from the comcast remote.
These are the settings I'm using for RF control:

At this point I'm assuming the IR portion of the remote is shot, and after the hassle I went through to get the charging base and software from the seller, I'll live with using the MRF-250 for now.

Given what you're describing and my very limited recall of the MX3000 editor, should the signal selection be IR and RF? Sounds like IR LEDS are shot but still setting appear off.

Have you tried installing an IR Indicator on one of your pages and see if it reacts to button presses? I dont use these but if they are truly IR Indicators and not just indicating an IR signal should be transmitting, they might help you.

Assuming they are real IR indicators, if it responds, that would lead me to believe that your programming/settings are OK and its a mechanical issue.

Just a guess.

Hart2Hart- I had tried IR+RF earlier and no changes. JohnnyRose- I tried a IR indicator earlier thinking that it was required- it toggled when i pushed buttons, but no change in output.

I have an old MX3000 here that used the older programming cable (that I do not have anymore) that I'd be happy to sell for $50 that you can use for spare parts or try and source the cable. Let me know if you're interested
