I'm trying to figure out how IP control works between a Mx-5000 and an mrx1. I have mutliple MX 5000's, mrf 350's and 1 mrx1 on an old job. I would like to introduce one of the power switches above to give reboot control of sources. In the past where I have used an mrx1 and 5000 to control a contact closure the remote would output the command over WiFi and the mrx1 would then execute the change in closure state. I actually had issues with this where it wouldn't execute after some amount of time has passed until the remote was rebooted.

My question is will the 5000 output the command over WiFi directly to the bluebolt, over WiFi to the mrx1 which then executes the command, or over RF to the mrx1 which then executes the command?

Thanks

The mx5000 communicates directly to ip devices. The mrx1 is not needed for ip control.

That's kind of what I figured. Does it work reliably, as long as the network is in good shape?

The mx5000 goes to sleep and drops off the network after so long.  You can adjust this time in the setup menu of the remote.  It takes a few seconds for it to reconnect to wifi after it wakes up.  So long as you can live with that, it is reliable.
