I'm trying to connect a Darbee to a URC MRF-260, controlled by a MX-880. Plugging a cable directly into the IR in port doesnt work. I emailed Darbee for help and got the following answer:

"The IR IN on the Darblet expects a pin-out, from tip to sleeve of: (3.3V VCC Out, 3.3V IR In, GND). If an external, powered IR extender is being used, a 3.3V IR signal should thus be present on the ring (middle contact), GND connected on the sleeve, and the tip should be left disconnected (because the Darblet is supplying 3.3V there, expecting an unpowered IR extender)."

they couldn't give me much in terms of follow up support and suggested trying the blaster.

Anyone have any advice on how/if I can get the direct IR in to work with the mrf 260?

thanks

Following what they told you to do: use a stereo 3.5mm IR cable for the Darbee IR input and splice to the mono IR output of the MRF-260. Don’t connect anything to the Tip of the stereo 3.5mm; splice MRF-260 IR to the Ring. Sleeve = Ground on both.

Thanks - If i'm not tech savvy to do any splicing, do you think this cable would do the trick?
