I know I can't ask for a link from here, but I thought URC did provide the standalone editor on their site? (In fact, the manual for the 980 directs me to their web site, and their FAQ still makes reference to the 850 editor software.)

But I can't find it anywhere. The only download I can find for the 850 on their site is the user's manual.

I've seen a few posts suggesting that they took down their old software and only have their new software online. Is that right? I'm pretty sure my remote is too old for their new software. Can I even access their new software?

Are they still providing the standalone software?

URC does not provide any software via their public website.

Your best bet is the link edmund provided.

Do link to the new file area instead of the old one...

Has that NX-RM820 editor software worked for anyone that has the latest MX-850 remote from URC?

I just got that editor and compared it with my MX-850 editor. It's even older than my editor software. And of course, it doesn't work with this new MX-850 remote I just got. Works fine with the older MX-850 I bought in 2007. But as you all already know, URC changed not just the MX-850 hardware, but the serial protocol it used to talk to the editor software. That's why the new MX-850s can't talk to the old editor software.

And I can't seem to find the new updated editor anywhere and I an *NOT* going to shell out $99/pop every time I need to make a change.

I'm at a loss here. I'm willing to shell out some cash to buy the editor software, or does anyone know of any good alternatives to URC remotes?

Thanks,
-Jac

I know this is an old question, but the MX850 stand alone is now on the professional website listed under Legacy software.
