I lost my configuration. So, I downloaded to my MX-900 using my config file. The macros now take way too long to execute (e.g., power on and power off). I am using version 5.0 of the edit software. Could it be that the firmware got downgraded? any other ideas?

Is it possible that the version of the file you are using has longer delays in it.
What does the macro look like?
