Trying to program a remote to send to my daughter so I am doing this "long distance" and would like to get it right the 1st time. She uses OTA, an Oppo 970 DVD player and a Polk 6000 sound bar

The TV isn't listed in the database under that #. Does anyone know what is the correct TV model to select to get all of the functionally of the remote that came with the TV?

I would also need the discretes for inputs so I can program it to switch from OTA to HDMI (don't currently know which # input she is using but will find out). I see a "model" called Discrete Functions 2011 under the Samsung TV brand but I think this tv is a 2013 model.

Thanks for any assistance.

I use TV code 656.

My bro 2500 miles away uses an 850. He has a copy of the software so he could download tweaks I made in the program for him. You could do the same.

Sorry took a while to get back to you. Didn't get an email saying someone responded and thought I'd just what else was going on here when I saw you replied.

So code 656 works completely for the F5500? I just looked at several models and it seems a lot use the 656 even though mine isn't specifically listed.
Are the "Discrete Functions 2011" the correct discretes too?

Would need power on, power off, air and hdmi (don't know which one yet).

The discrete code list will work, but it will not have volume, menu, directional buttons, select, numbers, play, pause,ff,rw...

Worked on the file this morning and I do not see a code for a "-" for sub channels in the 656 code set. How do you enter the "-"?

You referring to channels within the built in tuner such as 5-2? There is no code. You have to go to channel 5 and then press channel up if I recall correctly.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

I hope I get this right the first time. :)

Using code 656, what does the key left of the zero do?

When you bring the code in and hover the cursor over that button (labelled +10) it says +10 but there isn't a red dot on the button so I assume there isn't any code associated from the 656 code set. There isn't a red dot on the key to the right of the 0 (Enter), Fast left, fast right, stop, play or pause either.

I was hoping it was a dash until I brought the code in and saw there wasn't a red dot.

There is a - on the original remote to the left of the 0.

Here's a photo of the remote (which I don't have):

Do you own another learning remote, try other Samsung codes for the dash, if you find one, teach it to second learning remote and than back to URC remote.

Ok, found the "-" in code set 655. It is on that device's page 2. If I bring that code set in as TV2, can I copy the code and paste it to the +10 button and then delete TV2?

Does paste actually copy and paste the underlying code or does it paste a shortcut?

Shortcut it. Click on the button, then go in the button edit box and shortcut it to page 2 - and you are done.

Don't need no stinkin' tv2.

Ok, I'm a little confused.

I selected code 656 like you did for the TV. The dash isn't in that code set.

The dash is in code set 655 (I don't know if it has all of the other needed codes or even works - I'm just going off of what you said you used and works). Anyway, don't I have to bring in code set 655 in order to use a code from it? That's why I said make it device TV2.

Is a shortcut the same as the copy/paste function? In other words, does copy/paste actually copy the code and paste it to the new button or simply makes a shortcut? I did a Copy/Paste and it does have the arrow on the button icon like signifying a shortcut. If a shortcut, I can't delete TV2. If it copied the code, I can.

edmund suggested using the code set to teach another remote and then learn it back. A lot of work if copy paste will work.

Worst case I guess is to add the code set as TV2, put TV 2 on a hidden page of Main then do the copy/paste to where I want the - to be on TV device. There are only 3 components in her system so she has plenty of memory. Is this the best option?

I was on Skype with my daughter yesterday and the - on the original remote does enter the dash for sub channels when using the built in tuner (OTA).

If 655 has the dash you can make it tv2. It might be you can just use 655 for all. I don't know if they are much different. Either way works.

Just checked and 655 doesn't have all of the same codes (functions) as 656. 656 has all of the original remote codes except for the dash.

Thanks for all of your help.
