Hello guys,

I am a new user to this site and have a URC MX-890 remote that I recently purchased. I already have the URC program and am not asking for a copy.

I am wondering if any of you guys would be willing to share any sample system layouts of a MX-890 that you have programmed in the past. I want to start programming my remote but would really like to see some examples of how others have programmed theirs. Would appreciate if anyone could share their layout file.

Thanks for responding. I purchased quite a bit of new gear from my local dealer this month and he gave me a great price on the remote and threw in the software with it. He told me to mess around with it (since he knows I enjoy this sort of thing) and that if I wasn't able to make it work like I wanted to, that he would be able to get someone to program it for me. Apparently he does not do the programming himself either but has someone else that he pays do it for him when required.

He never mentioned or even insinuated that him giving me the software with the remote was something illegal. If it is, I apologize and admins please delete this thread and I will just pay my dealer to have his guy program it for me.

People here just continue to cry about some website that has the software for free for us customers. I am not saying you are doing anything illegal, they just may though.

You didn't do anything wrong and you went through the proper channels. Joe is jut a troll on this site that does distribute the software illegally through a site he likes to post about and claim he has no affiliation with it. His act is old and tired. I don't have any sample files for you, but good luck with your project. The 890 is a great remote and very powerful. I think you will enjoy it.

Edmund, thank you for the link to your file. I have downloaded it and am looking through it. It is a great example to get started with and just wanted to thank you for taking the time in making it.

If you don't mind me asking you, does the "Current Activity" variable that you use require each definition of Current Activity to be defined somewhere? Like when it says "Current Activity = iPod", does "iPod" itself have to be a variable? I don't see it being defined anywhere.
