I'm trying to program my MX-850 to work with a Toshiba Model DVR670, which is a DVD/VCR combo unit. Does anyone know, or perhaps have a guess, as to which IR database code set might work?

I would guess code 214, there's dvd/v (short for dvd / vcr) key.

Thanks Edmund. I'm not where I can look at the database right now, but I will be on Monday.

This unit was given to me by our college's AV department, so I had no idea what it really was other than it could be used to play DVD's and VHS tapes. (Yes, I still have the occassional need to play a VHS tape, as well as laser discs, too!)

I've since discovered that it's actually a DVD recorder (duhh, now the model name makes sense). So I'll take a look at the IR database for Toshiba DVD recorders on Monday, too.

Code 214 doesn't work. And there are no entries in the IR database for DVD recorders.

I shall keep trying ...

It looks like this Toshiba DVR670 was released in 2010 and has already been discontinued. Reviews show that a few people liked it but most found it had issue that seem to be firmware problems or perhaps quality control issues with their hardware.

Anyway, it was marketed as a device for copying old VHS tapes to DVD. As such it plays either media and outputs both video and audio in either digital or analog format.

No code set in the IR database works with this unit.

I've already taught and learned all the buttons. It took less time than trying all the code sets!

If anyone else is looking, code 188 (Toshiba 12) in CCP for DVD players works with most buttons. Just need to learn or use the Universal browser and load up Herman's file from here for the few extra buttons for the VCR / dubbing functions.
