Hi,

First some background, I´ve bought a MX-780 from an authorized dealer, I pissed the poor guy until he agreed to send the remote outside the US, I´m located in Brazil and URC products are not sold over here (and I dont ´t want Harmonys).

He was kind enough to sent me a copy of the CCP software under the condition that I´ll never provide a copy to anyone (thanks).

As I wait for the remote I´m trying to learn how to program it.

I´m glad to see that my receiver (Denon AVR-X4000) it´s now in the device´s list after the CCP´s last actualization, but, to my understanding, the command´s list is very incomplete, there are missing many commands that I´d like to use like: dimmer, quick select buttons, audyssey control, lfc control, and many others.

As these command are not in the remote I ask, how will I program them if there are no physical buttons on the original remote to learn and they are not in the device´s list ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Helton

Find another remote file here where the user has either learned or manually programmed those commands (via hex codes). Or find the hex codes yourself and enter them in.

Thanks smg669,

As I´m novice to remotes and to this community I don´t know if I understood correctly, I have to ask someone for the codes ?

If this is the case I feel that I´m left alone by URC, is this common ? Nothing against looking for the codes but I think that URC should provide them in order to make it´s customers and dealers covered without having to spend time othen than customizing the remote.

Thanks,

Helton

You can actually get all of the "ir hex commands" from Denon's website here...

[Link: usa.denon.com])

Move down to the middle of the page & select the docs tab. Then download "Denon Master(1.87 MB)".

All of these commands can then be imported (one at a time) into the URC programming software using the hex editor. The instructions are in the help section of the programming software.

URC is usually pretty good about having all of the correct commands in the database, but sometimes they are incorrect &/or they are missing some commands. You can usually find most of the commands from older models by pointing and shooting the commands at the receiver. Keep in mind the URC has to add thousands of commands to their database and sometimes that takes time. I am not a Denon dealer, but I did program the same receiver using RS232 a few months ago and only a handful of the codes were incorrect or missing.

Sometimes programming a remote actually requires a little bit of work...

Thanks a lot Matt,

I´ll figure out how to import the codes into CCP software and if these codes work, my problem is solved !!

Could you give me a litlle help with how to use the Denon Master doc ?

For example, I´ve found the dimmer code into the "Main Zone ID#1" and the "Main Zone ID#2", which one should I use ? Or should I test each one and see which works ?

Sorry of this is an obvious question, but I´m a completely novice and I´m a bit confused about how this doc is organized.

Thanks again,

Helton

Just use ID #1, which should be the default ID. The reason they have multiple ID's is so that you can control multiple Denon receivers and set each remote with a unique control ID so that it controls the corresponding receiver.

Importing these commands is fairly simple...
Your basically going to open up the hex editor in the software, then copy the code next to each corresponding function in the spreadsheet that you want to import, then paste it in the editor, and then drag the command to the button on corresponding button. It's super easy it can just be a little time consuming if you have to do a bunch of commands.

Clever...

Thanks again Matt, can´t wait to put my hands on the remote and test it.
