HAI EVERYONE, new here and needing help! My friend Carlos told me about this site and said you guys can point me in the right direction.

Story. I purchased an MX-890 about 8 months ago and had it programmed by a professional but just recently changed some of my equipment out and the remote needs to be programmed again.

To be honest I really need to learn all this myself. You know how it is, need to change things up every few months :)

A guy on AVS said i should get a "toorent" or something, not even sure what that means and directed me to ###. Is this the correct software I need? Not sure if its a virus or what

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: link to pirate site removed.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

### is not URC.  It is an illegal filesharing site.  Dont expect support from them.

Reference to pirate site removed.

it means that the website provided the software to you illegally.  they don't own the software and are not allowed to distribute it.

the URC website is www.univeralremote.com and they do not provide software to end users.  the only way to legally obtain the software is through the dealer that sold you the remote.

Thanks! Ok, now I get it. The thing is I have bought 3 remotes (2 for my sons) and it never was an option. I asked after I got it programmed and the dealer said he could only give it to me if I paid some sort of licensing fee to him of $199 a year which made no sense to me and it seemed shady. My son said not to so I didn't.

Sorry for asking so many questions, why do dealers not provide the program to customers and how can the website where i got it be open. Cant the police close it?

There are some people (myself included) who sell URC remotes and provide the software to clients upon request, if they do not want/need me to program the remote for them. Of course, this is only something I do for clients.

Thank you,
Damon

To clarify (because someone asked), we do not sell remotes online, just locally. However, we do offer programming services online to people all over the world.

Thank you,
Damon
