I've got an Onkyo TX-NR1009 that's giving me fits.

Background: Programming and operation has been flawless until about a month ago.

The remote control is a URC MX-5000. RF base station is an MRF-350.

The issue: The receiver won't respond to power on or volume commands through the MX-5000, however, the IR Emitter blinks just fine. That said, the receiver will respond to the analogous commands sent from the standard Onkyo remote.

I've tried swapping out the IR Emitter as well as adjusting the IR sensitivity...no dice. Same goes for moving the MRF-350's antenna around.

What's odd is that it worked just fine and then suddenly stopped working correctly for what appears to be no reason.

All other peripherals with the system work just fine...control of the receiver previously worked flawlessly then suddenly stopped.

Any insight? Really appreciate it! Thanks for providing such a great resource!

Have you tried setting the remote to ir to test the codes and programming are still intact and correct?

I have not. Great call though.

Barring somebody messing with the programming (100% unlikely in this case), what else would cause this sort of situation? Corruption of some kind?

1) replace the ir emitter with a 3.5 mm mono cable and plug it into the ir input on the back of the receiver. It's a much more reliable way to control the receiver.

2) check for rf interference. Make sure the rf light is not lit up on the antenna of the base station. It should only blink when you hit commands on the remote. If it is lit up try moving it or changing rf channels on the mrf350 in the software. Make sure it is not set to channel 0.

3) pull the battery on the back of the remote and reboot the remote.

4) open up the software and make sure the ir ports are assigned for each device and not set to all. Then reload the file.

5) reboot the Onkyo by pulling the plug.

6) re-adjust the ir trim settings as needed.
