I currently have a MX-810 which still works. However, I have to borrow a neighbors Windows XP laptop in order to run the MX-810 software. His laptop is old and is likely to die sooner or later, so it's time for me to start looking for a replacement remote.

Are there any authorized online dealers who can sell me a MX-880 with the software, or should I look at other brand remotes? I really like the layout of my MX-810, but I'm willing to consider other layouts. However, I am hesitant about touchscreens because I like to be able to push the buttons without looking down. Also, I need RF so the URC Digital R50 is not an option.

Thanks!

Did you do anything special to get the software to communicate with the remote? I can't get the software to download updates on Windows 7 computers, but it works everytime on Windows XP.

I have not tried this. However Activesync isn't required on XP computers, so I don't think mobile device center is required on Windows 7.

I did some more research and was able to get the 810 software working with my Windows 7 computer. Therefore I guess I'll keep it until it dies and then look for another brand remote. Thanks everyone!
