Hi everyone,

I just got a URC MX-890 and am learning how to program it. I had a couple of questions for the pros on here:

1) I have messed around with some icons to customize the main page. One question I have is, how do I export my CCP file so that it contains the images that I have added? My main page looks like this:

but when I save the file and open it on another PC, none of the images show up. Is there a way to have the images included in the CCP file when I save it?

2) Is there a way to have the MX-890 do scheduled commands at certain times? If I want to have the satellite radio turn on every morning is there a way I can set a macro to run on a schedule?

Thank you everyone!

One of CCP's pitfalls.

Create a folder for your new images and save them under program files/universal remote control/CCP/MX-890/images.

If you switch computers you need to also take your new images and insert them in the above mentioned location.

Each computer needs the image folder for the images to show up in CCP during programming!

I hope this helps!

The MX890 has an event time which can run your macros as a specific time each day. Right click on MX-890 in the Model Designer and you will see the option for the Event Timer

I was unaware the 890 had this option.
I wish this feature existed in the MX-1200.

Thanks for the tip!

Word from someone on the inside is that it was an oversight. He's trying to push to have it added to the 1200 during a CCP update.

Thank you for the advice! Do I create a folder under Program Files/CCP/MX-890/Images? I tried doing that, creating a folder called "Theater Remote" and then placing all my images under that directory but in CCP, it doesn't let me enter in a new directory to find images in under the Image Browser. The only directories it allows are the default ones (Activities, Buttons & Backgrounds, Blanks, Brands, Devices, Favorite Channel Icons, and Rooms).

Do I need to add my directory under one of those directories rather than just under Images?

Thank you!

It should work as I mentioned unless your images are the wrong size and format?
For example just trying copying the football folder from the MX-980 under images into the MX-890 images directory. You should now see the football folder you created in CCP for the MX-890 under tools/image gallery.

Thank you so much for the reply KRAZYK, and to everyone else who has been helping out in this thread -- really appreciate it!

I went ahead and copied the entire Football folder from the MX-980 directory into the MX-890/Images/ directory and after exiting and restarting CCP I still don't see the Football directory. Am I doing something wrong? I have the most up to date version of CCP.

Here's the picture showing what I see in Image Browser:

and here's my folder of MX-890/Images, with the Football folder copied there:

Any ideas? Thank you.

You copied the football folder into the correct location.

However, the images will not show up in the properties button import window tab.

Instead look under tools at the top of the screen and select image gallery.
The football folder will show up by selecting the button on the right under image gallery.

From here simply drag the images to the screen.

I have a few questions of my own?
How exactly are you displaying your screen shots?
I presume you are using a web based photo service of some kind?

Hi KRAZYK,

Thanks for the help -- your instructions worked perfectly!

In regards to your question of how I'm displaying the screenshots, what I do is select the window on my PC that I want to take a screenshot of and hold down the ALT key while hitting the Print Screen button on my keyboard. Holding down the ALT key allows you to take a screenshot of only that window that you have selected rather than the entire desktop. I then paste that into Photoshop or Paint, save it, and upload it to http://imgur.com. After uploading it, it provides a link which I copy and paste into my post and it shows up.

Quick tip for image capture. If you're using Win7, hit start button on keyboard and type 'snip'. No need to move mouse or anything, just press Start and type snip.
Its new, built in program that is far more powerful than Print Screen. Play with it for a bit; I think you'll like it.

I also wanted to give you a tip about the folders.
I use Dropbox and all my working folders are in the Dropbox. With that setup, it doesn't matter what computer I use as my folders are always sync'ed and always in same location.
There is even a way to play with RegEdit to change default folder the program looks into, but it's really not needed with CCP.

Thank you for the help everyone. I finally got a little more time to mess around with the remote and tried "customizing" the look of it a little. I'm not a very artistic/creative person so figured I would just try adding some matching wallpapers to liven it up a little.

Would love some feedback or suggestions on how to improve it. Also, if anyone is willing to share their designs, that would be really helpful in getting new ideas.
