Hello,
Let me start out by saying I'm new to this stuff so I apologize if this is a dumb question or not in the correct forum topic.

I have a URC MX-880 that I bought from a friend and after about 2 months of emailing back and forth with URC I finally got a copy of the Complete Control software.

I finally got everything set up and love it. I am also using a Lutron Maesto dimmer switch to control the lights which brings me to my question/problem.

I want to add another IR switch right next to the light switch to control the fan. As far as I can tell from reading online, if I got another Lutron switch the MX-880 would control both of them at the same time(press on button and the fan and light both come on). Is there a way I can control them seperately without having to get another brand switch? If not what is another good IR fan control switch?

Thanks
Mark

Do you have the URC by Lutron RF dimmer MRFA-600M-URC, or is it truly an IR dimmer??

You need the URC switch, part # MRFA-S6AM-URC.
That will give you ON/OFF only for your fan.

How well does the switch pick up the ir signal from the remote.do you have any extra components being used in order for the switch to read the signal

Joe has already mentioned the solution for both of your issues. The URC switches are built by Lutron and have RF receivers in them that allow your remote to communicate with them without pointing. I believe there are 5000 different id's you can use, so in your programming just assign a different id to each switch and you will have individual control of each one.
