I have an mx980 and a mx900 remote that use a mrf260 to control the same gear from two different rooms. No change has been made to my mx980 programming, but the devices controlled by mx980 via RF intermittantly respond (i.e. command works occasionally ). Those same devices work 100% of time when controlled by mx900 via RF so the mrf260 seems to be working.

The mx980 comtrols IR devices without issue.

Any ideas what could cause this suddenly? Has there been any known issues with RF failing in the mx980?

Check to make sure you are not getting any interference on the MRF-260. If the status light it blinking try moving it until it stops.

Even though it used to work fine, also make sure that the ir ports are individually assigned for each of the ports and not set to all in the programming.

And yes I have run into issues with the rf failing on a MX980. It's usually after its been dropped.

But I have run into a lot more issues with the MRF-260's. There very finicky which is why I always use MRF-350's.

Are you seeing a problem when both remotes are being used at the same time?
Or, is the 980 the only one being used and it still has issues?

Typically the mx980 is the only one being used at the time. It's in the same room as the gear which is why I notice the IR commands work without issue. My emitters have red lights that indicate when they sending a command. They almost never light up when pressing the buttons on the mx980.

Absolutely no issues when running the same gear (sat/bluray/component video switcher) with mx900. I've brought it down to the same room to test and it works fine including the emitters lighting when button is pressed.

The mx980 hasn't been dropped. I'm the only user of it. I can't say the same about the mx900 which has probably taken a beating over the years. Until recently the mx980 has been rock solid and worked without issue.

I'll try moving the mrf260 to a different location to try to eliminate interference. But I suspect there would be mx900 issues as well if there were interference.

Have you made any changes to the programming at all? Or any other changes in equipment? If not, I would lean towards possibly a bad remote. The fact you have a second remote working perfectly directs me towards the remote's RF board going bad. It's not all that common, but can happen. If you have programmed anything at all, and even if you haven't, just double check that the RF is set properly still on the 980 and the 260 is set to the proper RF ID in the 980 program.

Just swapped a 980 yesterday that had intermittent/no RF. New one instantly fixed it.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Thanks guys.

No changes to programming. No new gear in that room (or any room) which is why programming hasnt changed for several months. I'll double check the rf id, but with mx900 working fine, i'm leaning toward the remote rf board failing unfortunately.

Any idea what the cost to fix this is? Remote is a couple of years old now so doubt it is under warranty.
