My brother has owned this remote for a few years and has had an issue for a while where the remote doesn't sit on the docking station properly and won't charge. So he uses an elastic to ensure contact with the docking station chargers.

I could swear I read about this issue years ago, but can recall if there was a fix?

I assume his warranty is out, though I told him he should ask his dealer anyhow since he has bought a 880 and 1200 recently on top of ton of other stuff. But I figured I'd check here if there was a way to fix the base at all?

Thx

Battery has swelled up! There was a batch of batteries that were faulty, they would eventually swell up causing the batt cover to not sit right in the charger. Look at battery, I bet it says "Roofer" on it as the manufacturer. At one time URC was replacing for free. Either way just replace the battery
why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Thanks, will have him give that a go. Think I read it is a NP60 battery, assume this would work?

Looks similar but amp hour rating is much lower than URC and I would be weary of the warning about the charger. I'd just buy the URC one.

Hmm ... just at his house. I haven't bought a new battery yet, but out of curiousity simply removed the old one from the remote, put the battery cover back on, and placed it on the station.

Seems to still have an issue connecting, so not sure it's a swelled battery since I would imagine without any battery the remote should sit properly?

Yes it should. Try cleaning the contacts on both the remote and charger. Could be something as simple as that.

Roofer was the bad battery, primarily found in the MX980.

Take the battery cover off and see if it fits on the charger better.
It's possible that the cover has bowed up with the swollen battery.
