Is there a reason that people are using the MX890 instead of the MX980? I've been hesitant to switch as the MX980 is our go-to and we have every template under the sun already built. It also has a larger screen and doesn't cost much more. What are the benefits you guys have found with the MX890?

Thanks in advance

mx890 has the 4 color buttons.  you can plug the charger into the bottom of it, as well as sit it on the cradle.

i don't always need the watch/listen button on the mx980.

the resolution between the two is the same, so you can use the same graphics that you have made for the mx980, and since the screen is a bit smaller, the graphics look a bit nicer on the mx890.

that said, we still use the mx980 as our entry level remote.  but we will probably be swiching that over to the mx890.

***edit** disregrard, figured it out.

Just started in a new project but it appears there are no network icons for favorites on the 890, am I missing something?

you can download them at the URC Control Room.  You have to be a dealer though in order to log in.

Yes, just finished up and worked great. I guess I should have gone there first. Thanks.

In response to the original question, the advantages I have found for the 890 over the 980, after about six weeks of use, include: the 890 is smaller and lighter, making it much easier to hold. The 890 buttons have a very smooth action giving the unit a much nicer feel in the hand during operation.
However, I have a number of press-to-hold macros that generated a sound file at the start or end of the macro, and the 890 does not allow for sound files to be played; every key sounds a short chirp when pressed. This is disappointing.
Overall, however, it is a much more elegant unit.
