I have programmed and downloaded many mx 880s 980s and mx 5000s and all are recognized by my computer. I have just finished programming my first MX6000 and my computer does not seem to recognize it. Is there a different activesync that I need, or am I missing something. Or is the remote faulty. Any advice would be appreciated before I send this remote back.

it should be fine using activesync.  what happens when you plug it in?  does it ask you to load a driver?  do you see anything show up in your device manager?

Sorry for not getting back sooner but the wording is 'Downloaded error cant connect'.
I am using windows XP and never had any problems before this 6000.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Go into device manager.  Do any unknown devices show up?

No. My windows XP computer does not recognize the mx 6000 at all, so I decided to try my newer windows 7 computer, which does not recognize any of the other remotes or the MSC 400, and hay presto, the mx 6000 was recognised and I was able to download some work that was done.
Now I am confused even more. Did URC change something on the newer mx 6000s or am I just showing my ignorance?

i've used the MX6000 with both my old XP computer and my new Win7 64 bit computer.  no issues either way.  did you try plugging into a different USB port on the XP laptop?

Yes, just tried different ports and different cables and nothing, in fact I cant get my Win 7 computer to recognize it any more. Its begining to look like a bad remote. I cant think of anything else. Thanks for your help, and/or any other sudgestions.

try uninstalling all activesync or Microsoft modile device center or whatever you are using. then hook 6000 up and see if it leads you to device driver needed and then direct program to appropriate mx-6000 folder with device driver and install it.
