Interesting news: I purchased an MX-890 from EBay that stated they were an authorized dealer for URC. When asked about the software to program it they told me it would be an additional $25. They said they would email me the link once I paid the $25. I asked how they could charge for a program that they didn't own and should have stated in the ad that it was required to make the device work. So currently I have a paper weight for my coffee table. This was all to save $50 off of retail. You learn some and you lose some.
Paying $25 for the software isn't that bad of a deal though if you were planning on programming it yourself anyways. If you bought it from a local installer, they would probably want to program it for you also (larger profit center) and most seem to charge upwards of $150/hr for that.
So I'd just pay them the $25 for the software and program it yourself. After paying a local installer $350 previously to program a URC remote for me, and being really disappointed with the terrible job he did, I've insisted on being given the software for any URC device I purchase and programming it myself.
