I'm working on my first iPad install and looking for some direction on programming. The system currently uses MSC-400, RFX-250, MX-5000, (2) MX-980. I've added an MRX-1 and connected it between the RFX-250 and MSC-400 (via RF IN/OUT) to use it as a pass-thru device for bringing the iPad into the system.

1. I've not found any clear guidance on the actual connection scheme for using an MSC-400/MRX-1 combination, so I'd like to confirm my connections.

2. I'm not clear on how to attach the MSC-400 macros onto the iPad in CCP. There doesnt seem to be a clear path.

Any assistance is appreciated as always !
Thanks,
Bill

I am also looking for a way to bring iPads into my system which currently consists of two MX-5000s, two MX-850s, MSC-400, and MRF-350. Obviously all programming is being done via CCP. All equipment (AVRs, DVRs, media players, etc) is located in the basement equipment closet.

If I add a MRX-1 to my setup and utilize it with an iPad to control my theater equipment, I think would that work and wanted to confirm. It seems cheaper to add an iPad and MRX-1 than it would be to add another MX-5000 or MX-6000.

Since I would be removing my 400 from theater control, I think all macros would have to fire from the iPad, right?

Thanks.

from what I read on the URC forum, and my own attempt at trying it out, no it can't be done.  however, we were discussing it on another thread, and 2 people said they got it to work.  I'm waiting to see the file that one of the guys made to see how he did it, then I will test again.

unfortunately the file sent to me was not an iOS/MRX1 controlling an MSC400, it was a KP4000 controlling an MSC400.   So I still haven't seen proof that an MRX1 can trigger macros on an MSC400.

Thank you very much Duct Tape for keeping us informed about the "possibility" of this. I have so much invested in my setup using the MSC400 and with no replacement in site I have been hoping for some method of adding iPad or hopefully someday Android apps.

Did you see in the last CCP update there is an MRX-2 folder now.

I am having the same problem with my iPad not connecting to my MRX-2. Nearly every time I start the app it pops up a message that it can't connect to the MRX-2. It gives you the option to retry, but this NEVER works. I have discovered that if I ping the MRX-2 , the MRX-2 connects immediately. This suggests that the problem is with the MRX-2. I wish there was a way to automatically ping the MRX-2 when the iPad app starts or at least, when you select Retry.

Are you sure you are on the same network? I ask because I have been on site a few times where I showed signal and I had internet access but no connection to any local systems. Around here, we have Optimum Wifi which is Cablevision's "free wifi" that is available within their territory. The devices had at some point switched over to Optimum Wifi. Not sure if you have anything similar but always worth a quick look.

I use my own Ethernet and WiFi rather than the one supplied by AT&T (my provider). My MRX-2 is hard wired to my Ethernet at a static IP address. I have discovered that MRX-2 loses connection most often when I put the IOS app in the background on my iPad. As long as it stays in the foreground it is reliable. Of course with the iPad if you use another app it forces the current app to the background, no multiple windows here. I have tested this in the iPhone with the same results.
I have learned that this connection issue only exists for the IOS app. I use an MX-5000 to run my home theater via the same MRX-2 and it never loses connection for the MX-5000.
