In my opinion, the MX-880 is the finest remote sold by URC and has always been my biggest seller. The MX-890 is a big step backwards in programing ease and unless you have a customer that wants more customized displays, it is much harder to program than the MX-880.
The MX-780 is a good little remote if it were not for all the display problems. It seems that the displays go dim over time and I have had to replace so many remotes with dim displays that I will no longer sell that remote.
After posting this reply, I learned that URC has replaced the MX-780 OLED screens with LCD screens to fix the dimming problem. Therefore, I may use these remotes again.
The 890 is a far superior remote to the 880 in every way. The only thing making the 880 easier to program is the ability to move commands around on one screen, where on the 890 you have to drag codes over from the IRDB to move buttons. This is also a very easy task, so not a big deal. The 890 is much more powerful with a more advanced variable system, and even a built in event timer. Saying the 890 is a step backwards from the 880 is akin to saying a Mustang II is a big step up from a 68 Mustang Fastback.
