Hi there,

Looking to migrate from my MX-880 to a MX-890. Having played aroudn with the MX-890 config in CCP I'd wonder if anyone could offer a bit of advice on a couple of things.

I use the Watch and Listen hard buttons to get to HomeCinema or Audio controls on the 880, how are people setting up this on a 890 now ?

I also use the Favs button heavily, so that I can setup things on my home cinema, such as AV processor, tv volumes, lights etc. and then go straight back to where I was. Can I do something similar on the 890s ?

Thanks,Roy.

Well you could setup a "watch" and Listen button on your home screen if you'd like. They could simply jump to page 2, 3, or whatever you choose. Keep those pages hidden so the only way to access them is by hitting the button you place the jump to on on you main page 1. You can also create a "device" or "activity" to use much like you did with your favorites with basic navigate - jump to's on a back button. It will be a little different than what you were used to, but should work fine.

Is there a 'Jump to' button that will take you back to just where you were though ? I thought if I jumped somewhere, I couldn't remember where I'd been to jump back.

there is a Navigate (-) option in the Default Jump list, you can add this to any button.

Thanks. Found it in the Macros, Jump, Defaults section.

Just what I needed.

Good. It's definitely a useful tool depending on how you program your remote. A lot of people overlook the defaults in the jump to section simply because they didn't realize they were there. Very useful though at times.

Anyone know if you can import a 880 file into the 890 to at least get a head start on programming, even though some buttons/graphic capabilities are different? Thanks.

Nope. Have to start from scratch. The only remote file that can more or less be transferred from on model to the other is the mx900 to mxw920.

You can use the transporter to drag codes, but that's only useful for learned codes or imported hex codes. Everything else has to be programmed from scratch. Devices, layouts, macros.

Ahh, so that's what Transporter is for! I'm always learning new tricks here. So, in other words, if I've learned a command for a specific component through my MX-5000, and then I want to use that same learned code when building my KP-900 config, I don't have to re-learn the code onto the KP-900, I can just grab the code out of Transporter? I'm not in front of CCP today, but this would save me some time for sure.

Ahh, hope springs eternal. Figured it was no go but worth an ask, thanks. And as per the above, that's a great tip on the transporter -- didn't know about it.

Thanks again.

Exactly. It's also useful for getting learned codes into your MX-iOS program.

Is it true that you can't rearrange screen buttons on the 890 like you can on the 880? Don't see where you can in the manual and the screen that allows you to do this on the 880 in CCP is absent with the 890. Hope I'm missing something, but if not, this sucks!

You can but takes more work. Best to do before any macros are built. You can cut and paste buttons. You can also use the IRDB and drag codes over that will rename the buttons as you go. Much quicker than cut and paste.
