Been playing around with my MX-780 the last couple of weeks to see what I could do on the graphics side. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of Themes (just 1?) or graphics available?

the remote isn't really designed to work with custom graphics.  if you search for the MX880 graphics thread in this forum you can apply the same methods to play with the graphics of the MX780.

I played around with it a bit, but since the screen isn't really up to the task, it seemed like a waste of time and I didn't feel like I really improved upon the original graphics. (At least as far as being able to easily read the buttons is concerned)

I would suggest upgrading to a different remote if you really want to play around with graphics.

Yeah, been playing around with that method for a while using GIMP to set some themes/device images.

Certainly not the greatest resolutions, but fun to see what it can do. For instance, took all of the left and right and "center" buttons from the 980 file and shrunk them to work with the 780 (the stock ones leave a bit to be desired), then added a few of my own (Wii U, Off), and some master pages (e.g., when you hit the "Wii U" macro it just takes you to the page below).

Kind of fun.  Have 2 themes setup thus far (really just two sets of buttons as you can see below and different backgrounds).  The buttons on the dimmer pic below for instance give the impression that the buttons are actually being pressed when you hit the hard button.

Really nice work!

Ahem... I *am* going to be interviewing for a new graphic designer when I get back to the office in January. I'd be interested to see work from anyone who'd consider working in our New York headquarters.

Hi, just ordered my 780 and setting up the file, but have noticed there are really not default themes. All I really want is a solid background color other than the "bright green" that it is showing in the setup software.
Anybody have a download or how I can get a different background color.

Thanks

Let me see if I can upload the files I created to the files section on this site. One of them (a mimic of the "Glass" theme for the 880 may suit your needs).

Hmmm ... not really sure this site allows the uploading of colfile.vfd files vs just image files that are zipped?

This is what the background would look like for the Glass theme on the MX-780 I've done.  The buttons would be the same as the ones above.

In the mean time, I've uploaded my "devices" transparent icons and the icons I basically rescaled from the MX-980 default to work with the MX-780 screen if anyone is interested.

Hopefully rescaling the MX-980 and posting them here isn't against any copyright issues. Darnitol - let me know if this is and I'll remove those.

I manage to create a button for PS4 (logo) but read on another thread (can't seem to find it) saying that you just need to put the png file in the images folder and I did this but cannot see the image when using the remote software. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
